They have more in common than you'd think — both are worn close to the body, both are easy to get badly wrong, and both reward the kind of attention most people don't bother giving them. We started the site because the writing around both kept missing the point. Too much reverence for the wrong things. Not enough honesty about the right ones.

On watches: reviews, news, and buying guides — whether you just started noticing what's on people's wrists or you've been at it long enough to have strong opinions about case finishing. On fragrances: reviews written by people who actually wear the stuff, not people who lifted a description off a press sheet. We cover houses big and small, flag the blind buys worth making, and say plainly when something isn't.

No brand partnerships. No affiliate links dressed up as editorial. What you read here is what we'd tell a friend. The name is a nod to what happens when a great dial — or a great fragrance — shifts with the light. Same thing, completely different depending on where you're standing. That's what we're writing about.
